Friday Deep Cuts

I’m finally getting back in the the swing of things here after an amazing time in Detroit this past weekend at Movement festival. I will definitely follow up with some of my highlights, but for now here’s some deep cuts for this weekend that I’ve been diggin all week.

Fur Coat – Fading Away

Fur Coat – The Right Move feat. JAW

Igor Vicente – The Knight (Electric Jones Remix)

Ferreck Dawn & Redondo – Love Too Deep

GRADES – Freedom

Blonde – Foolish feat. Ryan Ashley (Dansson Remix)

I’m headed to Detroit Electronic Music Festival this week and I’m listening to a few artists I like (there are a shit ton!). I’ve been on a SOHN kick today.

“Leaving the lonely nighttime streets of London for the mountainous landscapes of Austria, multi-instrumentalist and producer S O H N (pronounced Sonn) draws his inspiration from the dichotomy that exists between the two. Reacting to Vienna’s legendary immersive electronic scene, S O H N has created a sound that blends his haunting vocal stylings with a backdrop of analogue drum machines and synths, mixing the worlds of old and new together to create a foundation for his tracks.

Aside from emphasizing the soulfulness of his voice, S O H N’s lyrics play upon the space that exists within language, twining his vocals around the gaps between sentences, and reclaiming the importance of words. Further contrasting the old and the new is S O H N’s artwork, which has been created using the beautiful analogue images of Italian photographer Christian Pitschl.” – Vagrant

SOHN = Artifice (Radio Rip)

TEED just remixed a Little Dragon track with a french touch. Not in the musical sense, but literal sense. ‘Paris’ is taken from Little Dragon’s new album Nabuma Rubberband.’ It’s given the late night dance floor treatment here and it’s quite enjoyable. Check ‘er out.

Little Dragon – Paris (Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs Holiday Edit)

Filipsson & Ulysses

I’ve been poking around with Ulysses all day who’s track with Filipsson, ‘Fluffy Amadeus’ happens to be on of my all time favorites. I’m sure it was posted here some time ago.

“Ulysses collaborates with Thugfucker’s Holmar Filipsson as “Filipsson & Ulysses”, who have released soon-to-be classic EPs of emotive electronic disco on Internasjonal and Bearfunk Records. Ulysses still continues to chart his own musical path with an incredible EP of dark Pop for Internasjonal Spesial, as well as some new club-friendly dance tracks on Wurst and a number of remixes.

His music suggests the nostalgic fun of yesterday’s classics without ever overlooking the new sounds of today. Its Ulysses’ unique combination of Dance music’s history and dance music’s ever-changing nature that makes him a unique force in Dance music.”

Ulysses & Filipsson – Fluffy Amadeus

Mano Le Tough – Started Running (Ulysses & Filipsson Remix)

Filipsson & Lindblad – Belfast (Ulysses Remix)

Remain & Mlle Caro – Heat (Ulysses & Filipsson Remix)

Ulysses & Filipsson – The Endless

Pray For Love

Maya Jane Coles released a remix of Kwabs yesterday and to no surprise it’s already amassed 60k+ views in that short time frame which is of course because everything she touches turns into gold. Check it out.

Deepjack and Mr. Nu just previewed a sun drenched remix with guitar licks from Pherotone. I’m looking forward to hearing the rest of the track. Add this one to your summer playlist now.
