So Much Family Affair

I’m a sucker for a well done remix or at least a remix that can be slipped in a set to awaken the crowd. The type of remix I’m referring to is of an old popular track like the one featured here from Mary J Blige. Now I certainly am no fan when a DJ overdoes it becomes then it becomes a bit cheesy. At any rate, check this one from DJ Runo. If you like it go grab the free download.

‘The Golden Pony pays Homage to one of Hip hops greatest producers with their remix of “Forgot About Dre”. The Duo states that beside Dre’s knack for funky beats and a hooky chorus, they appreciate the longevity of the only man to have produced #1 Hip Hop tracks over 3 decades: NWA in the 80’s, Snoop/Dre in the 90’s, and Eminem in the 00’s . “Dre was the reason I started making music” say Timothy, one half of the TGP. “It was a rap duo, working with a toy record player”. “We formed during elementary school after friend and i listened to N.W.A’s “Straight Outta Compton” 1000 times in a row. “I think Thomas must have picked up some psychic connection through our afro’s when he selected the Acapella and said he have to remix it!”

‘A break from our usual uptempo releases, “Questions” was written over the course of a year with lovely sister duet Frances Rose. While thats a long time to be do anything, we think it was well worth the wait :). Once again, yours free.’ – Chordashian

Here’s a preview a track that has taken the melody from Toto’s ‘Africa’. This is likely the 3rd or 4th post with songs that have included samples from the famous track. If you’re sensing a trend you’d be right… just a classic track getting a new age twist ready for the dance floor.

Here’s a new Toyboy & Robin track featured on their upcoming EP due out March 17th featuring amazing vocals from Alex Adams. Enjoy.

‘Back with another serious heavy hitter, Crosstown Rebels presents the latest from dream team Psychemagik, ‘Black Noir Schwarz’ their first original production not to be selfreleased and already championed by Pete Tong on BBC Radio 1. A club weapon of psychedelically charged, electrotinged epic proportions, the original is driven by the monster wonky bassline, dark and sultry vocal (from Renata De Sutter aka Renegade) and freaky synths. Spooky keys and chords, and grinding distorted bass bring the track to even murkier depths. Featuring remixes by the legend that is Tensnake as well…’
