Comprised of producer Corin Roddick and vocalist Megan James, the two quickly summited the burgeoning Montreal electronic-pop scene. It’s a Grimes mixed with Clams Casino sound and it’s perfect.

You don’t exactly dance to the music of Purity Ring. Rather, you drift, and are carried away.

The Friday Five

I’ve got some great tracks today to share with you many of which have already done their rounds on the blogosphere. I love sharing old and new tracks that I think other people will like. That’s the whole reason I started doing this so enjoy.

Note: I know this sounds dumb, but I hope when people listen to electronic music there are doing so on some good headphones or speakers otherwise you miss so many intricacies that exist within a song. Computer speakers ain’t gonna cut it with these.

Moon Boots – Sugar

Miike Snow – The Wave (Flight Facilities Remix)

Airwolf – Believer ft Alex Rose

The Other Tribe – Skirts (Jody Wisternoff Remix)

The XX – Angels (Theatre of Delays Remix)

Da Funk

“Welcome to Acryl Music’s summer special! We at Acryl decided to add a new series of releases to our main catalogue, with just one purpose: capturing the summer vibe musically!

For the very first release we have label boss Da Funk with 2 beautiful balearic tracks, just perfect for sunsets anywhere!

Have you ever been to one of those infamous beach bars, sipping on an ice cold drink, feel the warm breeze on your skin, the sand between your toes, the sun setting slowly and a beautiful, melodic tune is playing from a nearby soundsystem? Everything is alright, time is no longer important, you feel snug and you’re literally floating…

Know that feeling? Then you know why we had to launch the “Summer Special” series!

Enjoy!” For anyone is doesn’t know, Acryl Music’s mission is releasing House Music which exhibit the stylistic attributes deep, techy, forward thinking & innovative.

Da Funk – The Last Dance

Da Funk – Sunsets On A Leash

Beach Music

I’m gonna head down to Baker Beach (pictured above) right meow and listen to some tropical beach tron along the way. Kinda like these:

Discodromo – Build A House (Tensnake Remix)

Lindstrom – The Magnificent

Chris Rea – On The Beach (Todd Terje Balearic Remix)

Blawan’s track ‘Getting Me Down’ has to be one of the more heavily played tracks but I still love it. I first started hearing it in mixes earlier this year and after a brief back, it’s back in my mix and subsequently shared here.

A groovin bassline, persuasive percussion, and infectious vocal samples from the likes of Brandy makes this one the top tracks in the past year or two.

The main reason I’m coming across this today is because I’m listening to a ton of artists on the lineup for Dimensions Festival which I’ll be attending in September. Can’t wait.

Viceroy released another “JetLife Remix” today of Will Smith’s 90’s ballad, ‘Getting Jiggy With It’. In typical fashion he blasts his summertime flare all over that tune… wait what?

This track has that trademark “summer time all the time” sound with some 90’s nostalgia. What can I say? I’m a sucker for it. I definitely enjoy this one, but especially the last 30 seconds. I would love to see an extended outro.
