Arcade Fiyah

I was just sent this wonderfully tripped out remix of “The Suburbs” from Arcade Fire (Thanks Mary!). I immediately sent it to my better half who was already on top of it. She also happens to have a gnarly blog called The Untz And The Emo. This write up was taken directly from her blog:

“The original Suburbs is a kind of song that manages to cause shivers despite warm, upbeat tones, making you pine for home and sprinklers and simpler times, while simultaneously making you realize you can’t go back. Norwegian born songstress Mr. Little Jean slows it down here, smooths it out and adds some weight, making the sound match the scene it paints. Chills.

With silvery vocals and rolling bass, she practically sighs her way through the chorus, letting the words speak for themselves without trying to overly emote anything. The result, as with most things that make me feel nostalgic, is that kind of quiet comfort found in allowing yourself to really miss something. SO #emo”

I also wanted to include the first youtube write up as it’s fucking gold:  “This song makes me wanna strip naked, burst out of my window, free fall 28 floors, faceplant in the snow, make a snow angel mixed with my own blood, shiver from the cold, get hypothermia, DIE, go the pearly gate, say wuzzup to Jesus, do our secret hand shake, look for Buddha, find him, have him reincarnate me into a frog, meet a princess, kiss her, turn into a prince, order my subjects to bring me a computer, listen to this song again, cry myself to sleep. Wake up.. Repeat :)”

annnd that’s the longest post in the history of TheThrashJuice.

Mr Little Jeans – The Suburbs (Arcade Fire Cover)

This is a really powerful remix from LoBounce of a Civil Twilight song to which I’ve never heard. “LoBounce has shaped a brand new style of electronic bass music. His powerful combinations of weighted sub bass and complex melodic elements have taken the underground dance music scene by storm. LoBounce brings a fresh perspective to the world of electronic dance music, producing songs across the tempo and genre spectrum. “Its all about breaking down the walls and blasting out brand new ideas together,” says the young bass pioneer and Chicago native. Expect to see a constant stream of new genre defying music from this forward thinking producer. Find out more on his website – http://LoBounce.com

“One of these days the sky’s gonna break and everything will escape and I’ll know
One of these days the mountains are gonna fall into the sea and they’ll know
That you and I were made for this
I was made to taste your kiss
We were made to never fall away
Never fall away”

Civil Twilight – Letters From The Sky (LoBounce Remix)

A sweet little nu disco remix from Levantine. This will be the first post on this site or my old one where I’ve featured an artist from Mexico. I love posting international djs/producers, but have yet to come across some solid Mexican ones. Well today is the start of a new direction (for me of course) as I’m sure there is a ton of talent down there.

I wish the main lyrics in this could be expressed to everyone: “In sweet harmony… Let’s come to together… Right now.” With the tension and hate filled rants I come across everyday it’s tough to forget that I think people are generally and overwhelmingly good. Whether it be in regards to the GOP presidential nomination or simple comments on a random youtube video… people need to take a step back and remember we’re all in this together… so I say, “Let’s come together.”

Drugs Are Good Mmmmkay

A glitched out remix of Ratatat? Yes please! I haven’t circled back to them for quite sometime… well since their last album. I gave it a bunch of listens and enjoyed it, but it never stuck with me. I’ve also seen them twice. The first time I was surrounded by hipsters with the arms crossed while I flailed mine around wildly. The second time everyone was going nuts. They certainly have stage presence and I’ve certainly had a good time being entertained.

At any rate, today I have a remix I just discovered of their song “Drugs.” This comes from Kinematix who hails from the conservative town of Boulder, Colorado. Kidding of course. Enjoy this funked out glitchy remix.

A recently produced melodic banger from Gladkill called “Insomnia” brings us today’s track. Much like the picture above, he has a way with creating a fierce storm of hard sounds at a safe distance. This classically trained musician always does a good job bringing about an array of emotions with each tune he releases. It’s deep and soulful. I’ve always been a fan and you should check out his soundcloud page when you have a moment.

New Pretty Lights

New Pretty Lights tune for ya. This has that old school PL feel to it, of course old school for him is like 2-3 years. I remember him talking about his new ambitious project to create all his music with original samples instead of using old tunes. I am not sure, but this could very well be a part of that. It’s definitely got that chill hip hop vibe too which I dig.

I remember seeing him about a year before he really blew up and seeing him at some after parties. You could walk “backstage” then without anyone saying a word because no one cared. The parties were small then. Now, I can probably barely get tix if I wanted to see him. Good for him to blow up after only a few years.

I’m headed up to Tahoe for the weekend to shred some gnar so I’ll check back in with some new tunes on Monday. Have a good weekend internet peoples.
