Abakus just released some remixes of his favorite tunes from his youth. My two favorites are Billy Idol’s ‘White Wedding’ and Chris Isaak’s ‘Wicked Game.’
If you’re not familiar Abakus is an artist project of music producer Russ Davies, who also releases nudisco-electro under the Cinnamon Chasers alias, and progressive rock/ambient with his father Dave Davies (founder of 60s cult act The Kinks) as The Aschere Project. Abakus explores the deeper and more emotionally complex side to electronic music. He also helps us travel intergalacticly via his cosmic productions.

I usually tend to stay away from posting mixes or lives sets because you can find those everywhere. That’s primarily what I listen to often times hoping to catch a ton of tune I love. Many times I can find them, but others I may never find. Take for instance this incredible 50 minute set from Bonobo.
The first track is one that melts my electronic heart but it’s untitled. The same goes for another one of his own productions.
The rest of the mix is fire as well so I hope ya dig it like I did.

You want to know what the aliens listened to when they crash landed in the ocean off the coast of primordial Africa??? This.
Elements of trance, prog house, african music, and steel drums at the very least make this an interesting tune. It makes me feel weird and I’m not sure if that’s in a bad or exciting way. Either way I’ve given it a bunch of listens with the conclusion being that it’s an insanely addictive track. Thank the space lord I wasn’t driving because I could have easily fallen off rainbow road.
The Very Best – Kondaine (Unicorn Kid’s Space Drift Mix)
Scuba’s new video is absolutely amazing. I’ll be seeing him in September in Pula, Croatia. I’m imagining his set and the surroundings to be exactly like this. Can’t wait.
Scuba – NE1BUTU
A futuristic retro remix of Stevie Wonder’s ‘Superstition’? Yes Please! I sent this track to my friend today as he’s a big Stevie fan. I’ll just post my blurb that I sent to him:
“hey if you ever travel back in time to 1986 and happen to still be in LA, driving at night, with the windows down, maybe a few palm trees out, and an unseasonably warm night comes upon you… blast this jam from the future.”
Also check out Lektrono’s futuristic funkish nu disco version. A more upbeat freakster.
There’s also a free download here and here.
